From March 23 to 25 the place to be in the in Coachella Valley for food and wine lovers is under the Big White Tent in beautiful Palm Desert. The kickoff event of the simply amazing Palm Desert Food and Wine Festival will be the “A Taste of Italy” for course luncheon at 11:30 AM on Friday with a bevy of events to follow through Saturday and Sunday.
Now I don’t know about you, but anyplace that is serving gourmet cuisine and fine wine tasting for three days under sundrenched skies is a place I want to be. It never quite seems like spring in the Coachella Valley until that white tent goes up and all the best restaurants in our favorite Valley towns convene under it. This year the luminaries in the wine industry alone are mind-boggling, and then they bring on the gourmet chefs!
Look for names like Michael Green, Jeff La Bard, Marcos Mizzau, Joane Garcia Colson, and Barrie Sterling, to educate us on the finer points of choosing the best wines. Premier wineries such as Bodega Colomé, Callaway, Clos Pegase, Domaine Serene,Gainey, hope & grace, Ironhorse, Kenwood, Miramonte and oh so many more will all be offering their best wines for tasting.
Our own stellar valley restaurants will be serving up the unique creations of the best chefs on the planet so plan on seeing names like Alicante, Copley’s, Bellatrix, Citron, Catalan, Island Prime, Jensen’s, Lantana, Matchbox Palm Springs, Rockwood Grill, Trio and more of your favorite venerable places to dine. Really, does it get any better? Entertainment will also be on hand to keep you from getting too bored while sipping the Cabernet and Sauvignon and nibbling the Brie en Croute.
A full schedule of cooking demonstrations with celebrity chefs, wine seminars, book signings, artisan food vendors, and shopping opportunities round out this ‘most favorite’ of Season festivities. This is also a great place to pick up new recipes as well as all the clever gadgets you could possibly need to complete your own gourmet kitchen supplies at home.
Tickets are sold on a daily basis so you may attend one day or all three. You must be 21 to attend. Plan to dress comfortably and to walk a bit as there are multiple stages and a lot to see and enjoy. With perfect spring temperatures it will be a weekend to savor in every way. See you there!
