The Palm Springs Air Museum has set the standard for honoring veterans in the valley. Throughout the year there are numerous events that highlight the sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform. I know that we enjoy attending all of them but none more so than the 6th Annual Classic Car Rally and Chili Cook-Off set for Saturday October 26 from 11am to 3pm. This is an event that really brings in the masses for miles around!
The Coachella Valley is notorious for Classic Car Shows. With our picture perfect weather a Classic Auto buff can enjoy cruising, even with the top down, all year long! Is it any wonder then that we are the home of some of the greatest car shows in the country? Of course, this particular event has an edge on the rest because it combines the fabulous chili cook-off which then means we can all sample the best recipes this side of the Pecos River at the same time!
It is easy to see why the vacation home shoppers make it a full weekend event when they come out for the car show and chili! This has been one of the mildest Octobers in recent memory too, which adds to the attraction of our beautiful valley. I am already seeing the snowbirds flocking in well ahead of the traditional Thanksgiving Holidays. I suppose with snow already falling north of us it is a wise move to head to the sunshine ahead of schedule.
The Air Museum has plenty of surprises in store this year to add to the fun, so this is an event you will not want to miss. The usual attractions will all be there, including one of the biggest collections of WWII Flying machines in the country, the usual vintage cars and flight simulators, the food court, and guided tours. The Car Rally and Chili Cook-Off are included in the regular price of admission with $1 tastes of the delicious chili recipes cooked right on site!
This is a great family fall event for kids, grand kids, Moms and Dads and all your favorite neighbors. The start time means you can still sleep in and the early ending time allows for plenty of opportunity to see the aircraft and make it home for children’s bedtimes. I hope you save the date and set aside October 26 for one of the happiest days you can imagine right here at home. Make it a great and safe October!
